Week 7 Wiki'd

Well another week passes, not long to go now! I have just added my blog to the Learning 2.0 Sandbox Wiki which was pretty easy to do.

I also had a look at a couple of other wikis... I am still not sure when I would actually use these as it seems a little too easy to put in information which may not be correct. I see lots of libraries are using them to share information about policy and procedure but i can't see why this couldn't be done via email anyway???

Gee for generation y i sure am going against the grain when I say that I just don't really understand the need for some of these new programs and technologies!

d.e.l.i.c.i.o.u.s.........week 6

roast chicken with lemon and thyme, now that is delicious... this website well make your own decision.

So today I have had a look around del.icio.us and have created my own t-intersection account and added the del.icio.us toolbar to my explorer page. I have tagged a couple of the sites which I use regularly.

On having a look around the site I found some information on interview questions you should know answers to (so watch out boss!) and great vegetarian recipes, not that I am a vego, love a rare steak i do...

Not sure whether I would actually use the site too often but hey at least I now know it exists.

I also took a look at technorati. Both del.ciou.us and technorati are not the best looking or using friendly sites I have seen but once you get past the boring look they are fairly easy to use, should you be interested in that sort of thing.

On teechnorati I looked up www.boingboing.net which was listed as a popular site. It had plenty of fairly funny mashups on it as well as videos and more.

In exploring the Web and Library 2.0 posts ... I read "Libraries are not merely in communities, they are communities" in "To a temporary place in time..." I loved this quote. As a marketer I like to think of libraries as a place which not only provide a resource but provide friends, family and so much more.

I also loved
"But Library 4.0 will add a new mode, knowledge spa: meditation, relaxation, immersion in a luxury of ideas and thought... a retreat, a sanctuary, a pampered experience with information—subtle thoughts, fine words, exquisite brandy, smooth coffee, aromatic cigar, smell of leather, rustle of pages—to the dream economy’s library, the LIBRARY: a WiFREE space, a retreat from technohustle, with comfortable chairs, quiet, good light, coffee and single malt. You know, the library. "

I am still not really 100% sure what Library 2.0 means to me but it is good having some time to check out internet tools that I never knew existed.

Anyway, week 6 signing off!

looking both ways #12

hi again,

I have just completed the creation of a search roll using rollyo, once again you can access it through the link to the right called t-intersection rollyo.

i am currently completing a post grad in sustainability so i thought i would make it topical for my studies by creating an environment and sustainability search roll of websites which i commonly use.

so i hope all you greenies out there might get something out of this. there are some good sites regarding global warming, eco purchasing and so much more.

so happy web searching, and be good to the environment!

#11 - It's MY library thing...

Well back again and this week I have managed to actually catch up on my learning 2.0 stuff for a change.

I have created my own Library Thing page which you can see the link in my links you'll lovel list to the right. I have also managed to put in a Library Thing widget, impressing even myself with that one.

Library thing seems easy enough to use, I was able to change the layout of my page to suit me and it is soooo easy to add books to it that I got around to adding about 19 within only a few minutes. I wonder how long it would take me to do my whole collection... some other day maybe.

What a big week it has been and I am happy to be at home on a Friday afternoon getting this done. But I can say thanks to the delivery of a new desk I have totally cleaned out my office ready for a start on real work again next week.

Well the weekend and #12 awaits me enjoy the sun and rain...

South Park fun and games #10

Hi there,

I spent the weekend in the dark to celebrate the big switch off, which aims to teach us a thing or two about our reliance on technology and its effects on climate change. It was challenging trying to make dinner in the dark but I can tell you it was pretty fun relaxing into the night by candlelight with a bottle of nice wine.

Anyway, back to work...

So for Week 5 - Number 10, yes I have actually caught up, I decided to make my boy and I into South Park characters. I think they are pretty life like, what do you think? i did this through the website http://www.sp-studio.de/ it is really easy to use and a fair bit of fun.

Next I move onto Librarything which I have actually seen before so i am not too scared about getting through that one.

Seeya,

Technology... got to love it... #5 - #9

So, I have been mucking around with Flickr for the past hour trying to find interesting bits and pieces. I did find some great photos of places I have recently travelled to and it made me want to get away again. Anyway, you can see some of my photos on Flickr via this link http://www.flickr.com/photos/14104948@N02/

I have also created a mash-up which you will be able to see on my page shortly, I hope you all enjoy.

I also set up an account on Bloglines today and registered for a heap of subscriptions. You can link to the account by following: http://www.bloglines.com/public/t-intersection

I found some library related feeds including Unshelved, Library Journal and the Learning 2.0 Mornington Peninsula Library page to add to bloglines but was more interested in browsing some funnier sites.

Anyway, I think that is enough for one week.

Seeya,
